Day 1: Journey to Nanyuki County
Morning:
You will be picked up by your driver/guide. The adventure begins as you head north to Nanyuki County at the foot of Mount Kenya. As you leave the bustling city behind, enjoy the change in scenery as the countryside opens up with vast fields and rolling hills, offering you your first glimpse of Kenya’s natural beauty.
Halfway through your journey, we will stop at a local town such as Karatina or Ndaragwa to stretch your legs, rest, and restock on snacks. Local shops offer fresh fruits, roasted maize, or samosas — perfect for a quick snack while enjoying the fresh air.
After a short break, continue the journey towards Nanyuki and then to Maisha Sweet Waters .As you approach Maisha Sweet Waters, the stunning beauty of the surrounding area — vast open spaces with views of the Mount Kenya and Laikipia Plateau — will captivate you.
Afternoon
Arrive at Maisha Sweet Waters for check-in, where you will be welcomed by staff and guided to your luxury accommodation. You can unwind and relax, enjoying the serene environment.
Evening:
Dinner will be served at the lodge. Afterward, enjoy a quiet evening with stunning views of the landscape. You can also choose to stargaze under the clear night sky.
Day 2: Visit Ol Jogi Wildlife Conservancy
Morning
Enjoy a hearty breakfast at Maisha Sweet Waters with spectacular views of the surrounding nature.
After breakfast, embark on your visit to Ol Jogi Wildlife Conservancy (approximately 30-minute drive from Maisha Sweet Waters).
Ol Jogi Wildlife Conservancy:
Ol Jogi is a vast 58,000-acre private wildlife conservancy known for its incredible conservation efforts. It’s one of the most private wildlife conservancies in Kenya, dedicated to preserving endangered species and rehabilitating injured animals.
The conservancy is particularly famous for its black rhinos, Grevy’s zebras, and African wild dogs. In the 1990s, Ol Jogi became a key player in the rescue and rehabilitation of orphaned or injured elephants. The conservancy’s sanctuary for these elephants is one of its most impactful stories.
Ol Jogi also played an important role in protecting the critically endangered Grevy’s zebra, working alongside organizations to increase their population. The reserve is home to some of the rarest and most threatened species in Kenya, including giraffes, elephants, and lions.
Wildlife Viewing:
Enjoy a game drive within Ol Jogi. As you explore this expansive conservancy, you’ll likely encounter elephants, cheetahs, leopards, buffalo, and even hippos. Don’t forget to keep your eyes peeled for the rare Grevy’s zebra and the African wild dog.
The guide will tell you stories of the conservancy’s efforts and provide fascinating insights into the lives of the animals you encounter.
Lunch:
Have a delicious picnic lunch in the bush or at one of the conservancy’s designated picnic spots, enjoying the peaceful surroundings.
Evening:
After a full day of exploration, return to Maisha Sweet Waters in the late afternoon. Relax at the lodge, perhaps enjoying a sundowner as you take in the sunset
Dinner will be served at the lodge. Afterward, enjoy a relaxed evening under the African sky, perhaps around the campfire.
Day 3: Full Day at Ol Pejeta Conservancy
Morning:
Rise early to enjoy a delicious breakfast at Maisha Sweet Waters.
Head out for a full-day excursion to Ol Pejeta Conservancy (just 20-30 minutes from Maisha Sweet Waters).
Ol Pejeta Conservancy:
This 94,000-acre conservancy is famous for its rhino protection efforts, including its northern white rhinos (the last of their kind) and the Chimpanzee Sanctuary.
Chimpanzee Sanctuary: Visit the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary, the only sanctuary for chimpanzees in Kenya. These chimps were rescued from the illegal pet trade and have been rehabilitated here. The sanctuary offers a rare chance to get close to these fascinating primates and learn about their rehabilitation and conservation efforts.
Full Day Game Drive:
After visiting the chimpanzees, enjoy a game drive around Ol Pejeta. The conservancy is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including the Big Five (lions, leopards, elephants, buffalo, and rhinos). The rhino sanctuary is also an excellent place to spot black rhinos, a key focus of the conservancy’s work.
The Ol Pejeta Conservancy is also home to wild dogs, giraffes, and several species of antelopes. It’s a great opportunity for wildlife enthusiasts to photograph and observe these animals in their natural habitat.

Evening:
Return to Maisha Sweet Waters for a relaxed evening.
Dinner at the lodge, followed by a tranquil night spent under the stars, reflecting on a day filled with wildlife encounters.
Day 4: Travel to Samburu National Reserve
Morning:
After an early breakfast, depart for Samburu National Reserve (approximately a 3.5-hour drive from Maisha Sweet Waters).
On the way, enjoy the scenic views of Mount Kenya and the surrounding areas.
Samburu National Reserve:
Upon arrival, you’ll enjoy a game drive through Samburu National Reserve, which is renowned for its unique wildlife species such as the Samburu Special Five: Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Samburu ostrich, gerenuk, and Beisa oryx.
The landscape is stark and beautiful, with the Ewaso Ng’iro River flowing through the reserve, attracting many animals such as elephants, lions, and crocodiles.
Lunch:
A packed lunch will be provided at one of the reserve’s scenic picnic spots.
Check-In at Sarova Shaba Game Lodge:
After the game drive, check in at Sarova Shaba Game Lodge, located within the heart of the Shaba National Reserve. The lodge is luxurious and offers excellent facilities, including a beautiful pool with views of the surrounding landscape.
Evening:
Enjoy a relaxed dinner at the lodge, surrounded by the stunning views of the reserve and the river.
Day 5: Full Day at Shaba National Reserve – Return to Nairobi
Morning:
Wake up early for a morning game drive in Shaba National Reserve. The cool morning hours are a perfect time to see the wildlife at its most active, especially big cats like lions and cheetahs.
Game Drive:
Continue exploring Shaba, where you will encounter more of the Samburu Special Five and other wildlife, including elephants, leopards, and zebras. Your guide will share fascinating insights about the animals and the ecosystems.
Lunch:
Enjoy a lunch at the lodge or a packed picnic during the game drive.
Afternoon:
After lunch, relax at the lodge, take a dip in the pool, or simply enjoy the peaceful surroundings of Shaba.
After your relaxing afternoon, check out of Sarova Shaba Game Lodge and begin your journey back to Nairobi or the airport.
End of the Trip:
You will be transferred back to Nairobi, where you can catch your evening flight or check into your hotel for a restful night before your departure.
